The human element it is said is most important in Medicare, it is an element which enjoys its exclusive pride of place in the Sankara Nethralaya scheme of things. The growing popularity, response and turnout at the recently held alumni meet was a clear testimonial of the human element cherished and nurtured at Sankara Nethralaya. The day long meet registered a record attendance of 172 alumni members from all over the country including Chairman Emeritus Dr S.S. Badrinath, Chairman Dr.S.Bhaskaran, Vice-Chairman Dr T.S.Surendran and a notable overseas participant Dr. Lingam Gopal who had come all the way from Singapore.
In keeping with Sankara Nethralaya’s belief that alumni meets are not just fun get-togethers and reliving of the good old times but an ideal platform for a lot of intellectual discourse and interaction in terms of exchange of views, learning and challenges, the day witnessed 3C a vibrant scientific programme on Controversies, Challenges and Consensus in various ophthalmic sub-specialties.
The Dr.Natarajan Pillai free session saw the presentation of 4 papers with Dr. Samaresh bagging the best paper award. Discussion on the modalities of the scientific deliberations and social events for the next alumni meet and the Annual General Body Meeting of the Alumni association were also conducted. An interesting part of the day’s proceedings was that about 50 members who could not attend the meet in person participated actively in the proceedings through Ekalavya- Sankara Nethralaya’s vibrant online channel
