Ophthalmic equipment worth rupees 9 lakhs was handed over to Dr SS Badrinath, Chairman Emeritus, and Dr S.Bhaskaran, Chairman, Sankara Nethralaya by Shri Umapathy, Deputy Executive Officer, Tirupati Tirumala Devasthanam Information Center, TNagar, Chennai in a simple but significant function held at the Information Center.
The occasion marked the launching of the ‘Weekly’ eye screening camps by the Sri Srinivasa Sankara Nethralaya Trust and Sankara Nethralaya to be conducted with the help of the newly acquired equipment. In the past the joint free eye screening camps were conducted monthly once and the equipment to conduct them had to be brought from Sankara Nethralaya, Chennai.
The Sri Srinivasa Sankara Nethralaya Trust had recently acquired all the equipment needed for conducting the eye camps at a cost of rupees 9 lakhs. Shri NDJ. Renganath a member of the SSSN management committee made a thoughtful contribution in the form of a steel cupboard for the safe keeping of the recently procured equipment.
Dr Vasanthi Badrinath, Shri Raghunathan, Shri P.R.Ravindran, Chief General Manager, Ms Akila Ganesan, General Manager and Ms Aishwarya, Optometrist and camp coordinator attended the inaugural function after which a regular eye screening camp was conducted on the spot by Sankara Nethralaya.
