Forty-five students passed out at the XXII graduation ceremony of the Elite School of Optometry and Vidya Sagar Institute of Biomedical Sciences on September 13, 2010.
Congratulating the graduates, Chief Guest, Dr.Adinarayana Kalanidhi, vice-chairman, commonwealth science and technology academy for research and chairman The Sankara Nethralaya Academy, urged the students to enrich the institution by being its brand ambassador.
Delivering the convocation address, Dr. Kalanidhi stressed on the need for India to enhance its human resources, both academically and health-wise. The Central and State Governments, he said, were working to increase the number of personnel being trained academically. He complimented the faculty and the institution’s management for their honorable service in training the students in the specialized areas.
While 29 students successfully completed their BS Optometry, 9 students were awarded their MPhil degree from the Elite School of Optometry. Seven students completed the Masters programme in Medical Laboratory Technology (MSMLT), conducted by the Medical Research Foundation, in collaboration with BITS, Pilani, Rajasthan, at the Vidyasagar Institute of Biomedical Technology and Science (VIBS).
BS Ophthalmic Assistant (BSOA) certificates were handed over to three students.
Institutional awards were given to doctors, fellows and researchers for their meritorious service.
