Teleophthalmology camps

Sankara Nethralaya and the Chennai Petroleum Corporation Limited conducted the third in a series of eye camps on August 29, 2009. A total of 165 patients were screened at the camp held at Mathur; 33 patients were provided with glasses at the site; 11 patients underwent cataract surgery and six teleconsulations were held.

The teleophthalmology department, along with the Lions Club, conducted a camp at Gerugambakkam on September 1, 2009. Eighty six patients were examined at the camp. Forty seven patients were advised to wear spectacles, 13 glasses were given at the campsite. Cataract surgery was advised for 12 patients while one case of diabetic retinopathy was diagnosed.  A case each on glaucoma, cornea, retina and general ophthalmology were referred for investigation. Lions Club international members visited the camp.
