Felicitation function of Dr. T. V. Subramanian

The concept of pro-active change and sustaining it formed the basis of the inaugural Dr. T V Subramnaian lecture, “Triums of creating and sustaining change,” by M S Jayaraman on June 24, 2009.

Mr. Jayraman spoke about the need for change makers to co-create and bring about a change in the mindset for pro-active change to take place.

Dr. TVS, who described his association with Sankara Nethralaya as a “rich and educative” experience, spoke about the challenges faced by the healthcare industry.

Dr. TVS said the 3 Cs — competence, commitment and compassion — were the “invaluable gains” that he benefited from his association with Sankara Nethralaya.

“For educating me, they are honouring me…I hope they continue to educate me.”

Swami Dayananda Swamigal, who honoured Dr. TVS and Mr. MSJ, applauded Sankara Nethralaya and its team of doctors for their contribution to eye care.

Earlier, Dr. Tarun Sharma while introducing Dr. TVS, spoke about his professional achievements as well as his contributions to Sankara Nethralaya, which included conducting 65 training classes for the hospital as well as spearheading 75 projects related to TQM in the hospital.

He also revealed a little known fact about Dr. TVS and Mr. Jayaraman — whatever professional fee the two received from Sankara Nethralaya, both of them returned it back to the hospital.

Chairman Dr. Lingam Gopal described Mr. Jayaraman as a “dignified, meticulous and forward thinking personality.”

Ms. Janani, a trained carnatic musician, rendered a prayer song at the beginning of the function and Dr. Rashmin Gandhi was the emcee for the evening.
