High level delegates from the University of South Carolina led by Dr Harris Pastides, Vice President for Research and Health Sciences visited Sankara Nethralaya on 5th Jan. The team included Dr Jameas R Herbert ( Health sciences distinguished professor, Department of Epidemiology and Biostatistics , Director Cancer Prevention and control Program), Dr Meera Narasimhan ( Professor of Psychiatry, Director Biological Research) and Prof T. S. Sudarshan ( Chair, Electrical Engineering Department). They went on a hospital tour in the morning and interacted with the various departmental heads (Community Ophthalmology (JCOC), Epidemiology units at JKCN, Clinical and Basic Science Research Labs & Teleophthalmology). This was followed by lunch, Presentation and discussion about the possible collaborative Projects. The team met and discussed the goals and objectives of their visit with US General Consul Mr. David T Hopper during the tea meeting in board room – Sankara Nethralaya. The Team also visited IIT Chennai, Adyar Cancer institute and National Institute of Epidemiology.
