Nethralaya’s Nightingales the caring Sisters in white have played a major role in capturing the spirit of service and compassion at Sankara Nethralaya an institution dedicated to delivering eye care without disparity to the rich and poor and doing so with a personal touch. In a touching gesture of their compassion to the patients they nurse, dedication to their institution, its founder and its cause, the nurses demonstrated a rare ‘spirit of giving’ on ‘International Nurse’s Day’ (12th May 2014) celebrated the world over as a Thanksgiving day to the care and sacrifice of nurses. The Nurses made a personal contribution each and collected sufficient funds to meet the cost of surgery to two poor and needy patients, led by their head Mrs. Jerina, Superintendent Nursing Services they made their way to the board room with joy and a sparkle in their eyes where she handed over their token of love and compassion to their beloved Chief. Speaking on the occasion Mrs. Jerina observed that it was memorable moment for every one of them to meet Dr. SS.Badrinath whom they considered as the Banyan tree under whose shade the entire Sankara Nethralaya family flourished and prospered and hand over their humble contribution to him. Dr SS.Badrinath received them warmly, greeted them on the occasion and thanked them profusely for their most thoughtful gesture capturing the spirit of compassion.
The entire Sankara Nethralaya family joins Chief in conveying its hearty greetings to the dedicated nurses on ‘International Nurse’s Day’
