Awareness sessions mark eye donation fortnight

Eye Donation Fortnight

As part of the National Eye Donation fortnight, held from August 25 to September 8, 2010, the CU Shah Eye Bank undertook a string of activities to raise awareness on the importance of eye donation and to sensitize the public on the need to pledge eyes. On air messages were relayed, through one of Chennai’s leading FM channels, throughout the fortnight. Drawing and slogan creating competitions were held in schools. About 320 students participated in the competitions to lend support to the cause. A human chain by college and school students was formed to create awareness among the public on eye donation. The series of awareness sessions led to close to 400 people pledging their eyes to the CU Shah Eye Bank.
