An informative session on Hospital Acquired Infections and a quiz contest marked the International Nurses’ Day celebrations at Sankara Nethralaya on May 12, 2010.
Sponsored by Dispoline, which manufactures pre-sterile single usage operation theatre kits, the programme was a fitting tribute to acknowledge the services of nurses in the hospital.
Dr. Lily Therese, Head of Department, Microbiology, spoke on the various sources of infection that nurses need to be aware of while discharging their duties. Means to prevent the infection were also discussed with the nurses.
Nurses who completed 10 years of service at Nethralaya were felicitated on the occasion. On a lighter note, Dispoline also organised a lucky dip and quiz contest for the nurses. With questions ranging from medical terminology to the latest in entertainment, the session was a perfect way for nurses to unwind and enjoy their day!
The International Nurses Day is celebrated across the world on May 12 to commemorate Florence Nightingale’s birth anniversary.
