The Sankara Nethlaya Academy student’s bags merit scholarship from TechMed Healthcare, Chennai

Techmed healthcare organized a state level quiz competition for the “LIFE SCIENCE AWARD, 2014” on 18th October, 2014.

The purpose of the program is to help lab technicians who come from poor socio-economic background with merit scholarships and to create awareness on opportunities in life sciences field. Around 200 students across the state competed in the written test in the preliminary round, and top 20 were selected for the finals.

The Sankara Nethlaya Academy students, Ms Santhanalakshmi and Ms Suganya (III yr B Sc MLT students) and Ms Logeshwari (Completed B Sc MLT and working as Intern in Clinical Lab at SN Main) were among the top 20.

The final was in the form of Quiz with multi tasking such as testing their theoretical knowledge and technical expertise by performing lab tests. Randomly the students were grouped into five teams with four students each.

The award was a cash prize of Rs 1 Lakh for the winning team, 2nd team – 30,000/- and 3rd team – 15,000/-. Ms Santhanalakshmi team won the quiz in first place and  Ms Suganya  team won the second place with a tie break and bagged the scholarships for Rs 25,000/- and Rs 7500/- respectively.

Our student’s performance was outstanding. This program provided a platform for the students to exhibit their talents and win scholarships to pursue their education. We thank the Sankara Nethralaya faculty team for their training and support.
