A Hands-on Summer Training programme by VIBS

VIBS

A hands on summer training programme was conducted by the Vidyasagar Institute of Bio-Medical Science between 19th May and 6th June 2014. A total of 13 participants (4) in Biochemistry & Cell Biology,  (4) in Genetics & Molecular Biology and (5) in L & T Microbiology departments from  SRM Medical College Hospital & Research Centre(1), Bharathidasan University, Tiruchirappalli(1), Annamalai University, Chidambaram(1),  Shri.Sadguru Seva Sangh Trust, Chitrakoot(1), Mysore Medical College and Research Institute, Mysore(1),   SRM University,  Chennai(1), Anna University, Guindy Campus, Chennai(1), Madurai Kamaraj University, Madurai(1), College of Science & Technology, Andhra University, Visakhapatnam(2), Loyola College, Chennai(1) and Satyabama University. Chennai (1), Vels University, Chennai (1)) participated in the programme.

An evaluation was conducted at the end of the program for the participants of all three departments and they performed well. The students gave a good feedback on the training programme during the valedictory function conducted on 6th June 2014. The faculty from the respective departments appreciated the enthusiasm and involvement with which the participants learnt the techniques. The participants were requested to share the acquired knowledge and impart the skills to their juniors and colleagues in their respective colleges. Dr. H. N. Madhavan, Director and Professor of Microbiology & VIBS addressed the participants and distributed the certificates during the valedictory function.

The function came to an end with a warm Vote of Thanks by Dr.J.Malathi, Reader of L & T Microbiology Research Centre, Vision Research Foundation. She thanked the Medical Research Foundation and the Founder of VIBS, Padmashri Iravatham Mahadevan, I.A.S. for providing the wonderful opportunity to train the Post graduate students from various Science & Arts Colleges & Research Institutions and the faculty members from all three departments.
