The gentle SWAN opens another service wing

Utility shop at the Jaslok Community Ophthalmology Centre

In yet another thoughtful gesture the Sankara Nethralaya Women’s Auxiliary Trustees set up a much needed Utility shop at the Jaslok Community Ophthalmology Centre (JCOC) at Greams Road on 7th Dec 2013.

Inaugurating the Utility Shop Smt.Leelavathi, an erstwhile SWAN volunteer who served SWAN’s utility shop for over two decades from 1984 at the main hospital premises observed that it was indeed her pleasure to inaugurate the new facility, she reminisced the golden days when she picked up nuances of running a successful business venture, when there were hardly any outlets in and around the hospital catering to the needs of the patients or the doctors.

Honouring Smt.Leelavathi, Dr. Vasanthi Badrinath, SWAN Trustee and Director – Clinical Services said Smt.Leelavathi was both enthusiastic and diligent, qualities to be imbibed by everybody and thanked Col.Raghavan for putting up the Utility shop.

Smt.Surekha Mehta, SWAN Trustee promised that the utility shop would be a full fledged one equipped with a microwave oven and other gadgets soon.

Dr.Sripriya Krishnamoorthy, In-charge – JCOC expressed her happiness in inaugurating the utility shop that would serve the needs of doctors and patients alike.

Among those present were senior management members including Dr.SS Badrinath, Chairman Emeritus, Dr S.Bhaskaran, Chairman, Dr Kris Vasan, Managing Director, SWAN Vounteers Smt. Kausalya Appukutty, Smt. Mukul Rani Varshiney, Smt. Sita Mithal, Smt. Praveena Seth, Sri. Krishnamoorthy, a host of senior Consultants and employees.
