Octogenarian Doctor Honoured

Dr KV.Thiruvengadam being honoured with the ARAM Award by
His Excellency Dr Rosaiah, Governor of Tamil Nadu

Aram Award, Instituted by Shriram Ilakkiya Kazhagam, was conferred on 87 –year-old Professor of Medicine K.V.Thiruvengadam by Governor K.Rosaiah in a function held recently. Also, in recognition of his services in the field of medicine as a teacher, doctor, researcher and humanist, he was honoured with a cash prize of Rs.One Lakh.

Dr.KVT donated the prize money towards the social services of Sankara Nethralaya. He said medical practice calls for utmost dedication and ethics, more than any other field.

Dr.KVT is also a recipient of Padma Shree Award and Dr.B.C.Roy Award. Avvai Natarajan, Chairman, Shriram Ilakkiya Kazhagam, R.Thyagarajan, Founder-Chairman, Shriram Group, G.Ranga Rao, former principal commissioner, Revenue Administration, and R.Kannan, director, Shriram Group were present on the occasion. Shriram Ilakkiya Kazhagam is the literary wing of Shriram Group which recognizes individuals and institutions whose actions depict the ideals visualized by the saint poet, Thiruvalluvar.
