There is an old pun that goes that ‘there is no stronger tie than the ‘old school tie’ which simply means that we make our strongest bonds during our student years. The huge turnout of 160 ophthalmologists at the SN Alumni Academic meeting held at the Sri VD Swami Auditorium, SN only added credence to this saying.
While the meet like all alumni meets provided the perfect venue to catch up with old times and have a good time, what made the critical difference here was that it acted as a useful platform for a healthy exchange of ideas, information and latest advancements in ophthalmology from ophthalmologists serving in different parts of the country.
The meet saw the delivery of 12 talks on various areas of ophthalmology, a quiz contest and the presentation of 15 papers for the Dr Natarajan Pillai Best Paper Presentation. The highlight of this year’s meet however was the delivery of two motivational lectures on When I can do, you too can – by Dr S.Natarajan and on stress management by Dr Siddharth followed by a useful speech on electronic medical record by Dr Sudhir.
Dr SS Badrinath, Chairman Emeritus, SN and Dr Baskar, Chairman, SN attended the meet and gave away the Dr Natrajan Pillai Best Paper Presentation award to Dr Sweta Agarwal for her paper titled ‘Tooth for vision the 8 year MOOKP experience at SN”
The meet was organized by Dr J.Biswas and the proceedings were web cast for the benefit of ophthalmologists who could not make it in person
A decision was made to hold the Alumni meet on the first Sunday of July in the future.
