Rotary club felicitates SN doctors

Chairman Emeritus Dr. SS Badrinath and Sankara Nethralaya doctors, who participated at an eye camp at Nairobi, Kenya, were felicitated by the Rotary Club of Chennai Galaxy on June 27, 2010.

Rotarian Karikalan, who was the project coordinator, applauded the tireless effort by the SN team at the free eye camp held at the Loresha Lions Hospital in Nairobi.

Dr. Badrinath lauded the efforts of Rotary and Lions Club members, including Lion Hari Narayanan, in serving humanity. He said that Sankara Nethralaya had “richly benefited from its association with Rotary and Lions Club.”
 
Dr. Badrinath described the opportunity to train local ophthalmologists and provide Nethralaya’s quality services to the people of Kenya as a wonderful experience and exposure for the SN team.

1300 patients, requiring specialized ophthalmic care, were examined at the eye camp. A total of 52 super speciality surgeries, including complicated phacoemulsification cataract surgeries, were performed.

Sankara Nethralaya doctors Dr. Bipasha Mukherjee, Director, Orbit, Oculoplasty & Trauma, Dr. Rashmin Gandhi, Senior Consultant, Neuro ophthalmology, Dr. Shubra Goel, Associate Consultant, Orbit, Oculoplasty & Trauma and Dr. Pukhraj Rishi, Associate Consultant, Vitreo Retina were felicitated on the occasion.
