Mahaperiyava 117th Jayanthi celebrations

The simplicity, austerity and great noble deeds of Sri Chandrasekarendra Saraswati Swamiji (Mahaperiyava) were remembered on his 117th Jayanthi celebrations at Sankara Nethralaya on June 2, 2010.

Addressing the gathering on the occasion, chief guest Mr. V. Shankar recalled the teachings of Mahaperiyava and his remarkable compassion towards humanity.

Mr. Shankar urged the youth to believe in themselves and described the younger generation as having all the potential to take the country to greater heights.

He also spoke on the tenets of Hinduism and said the Kanchi Kamakoti Peetham symbolized the true spirit of Hinduism.

Introducing the chief guest, Chairman Emeritus Dr. SS Badrinath extolled the philanthropic contributions of Mr. Shankar and his association with Sankara Nethralaya.
