It was music at its classical and contemporary best at Sankara Nethralaya’s Foundation Day celebrations on October 1, 2009 as music maestro Gopal Sapthaswarangal dished out a blend of old & new melodies.
Expressing great pleasure at Sankara Nethralaya’s growth since its inception in 1978, Chairman Emeritus Dr. SS Badrinath called on the Nethralaya family, whom he described as “31-year-old adults,” to internalize a sense of discipline in them.
Chairman V Vaidyanathan, who distributed prizes to winners of the in-house cricket competition, attributed Sankara Nethralaya’s achievements to the collective effort of all individuals associated with the institution.
Welcoming the gathering, earlier on, Chief Information Technology Officer Mr. Sampath Kumar compared the phenomenal growth of the organisation to that of a Banyan tree — just like the Banyan tree which grows stronger with its aerial prop roots, Sankara Nethralaya too has been able to make its presence stronger by establishing new centres at Bangalore, Kolkata and Tirupathi.
Mr. Sampath said all employees should feel proud of their association with an institute like Sankara Nethralaya and urged all of them to pass on the values imbibed at Sankara Nethralaya to the next generation.
