SightFirst advisory committee at SN


Members of the SightFirst advisory committee visited Sankara Nethralaya on September 1, 2009 to evaluate and discuss the Lions-SN teleophthalmology Diabetic Retinopathy Programme. As part of this, the team also visited the facilities at Sankara Nethralaya, including the Jaslok Community Ophthalmic Centre.

The four-member team consisted of Mr. Joshua Friedman, Assistant Manager, SightFirst department, Lions Club International Foundation (LCIF); Lion K.G. Ramakrishna Murthy, former international director, Lions Club International; Lion Dr. S. Chandra Sekhar Shetty, chief technical advisor, SightFirst, India & Sri Lanka, LCIF and Dr. Silvio Mariotti, WHO, Geneva and SightFirst member. The team also visited the Gerugambakkam eye camp on September1, 2009.

SightFirst is a global initiative launched by Lions in 1989 to prevent avoidable blindness and restore vision.
