From the thick black-framed spectacles to the thin-rimmed and stylishly framed glasses, wearing spectacles has come of age!
Keeping in mind the consumer’s preference for attractive and premium spectacles, Sankara Nethralaya’s refurbished optical services promises to offer glasses with high-quality lenses available in a wide range of frames.
The state-of-the-art facility, inaugurated by Krish Srikkanth, Chairman BCCI Selection Committee on August 12, will offer both bifocal and progressive additional lenses, which are made to the exact specifications given by the doctor. Today, progressive additional lenses are being preferred over bifocal lenses as they not only look attractive but also enable a person to gradually see all objects from any distance without any hassle.
A frame stylist at the centre will help customers select a frame of his/her choice. The centre will also dispense prescriptions with the help of a pattern-less edging machine that traces and cuts the lenses to fit the frame with scientific precision.
The optical service centre also includes a speciality contact lens clinic. Inaugurated by Actress Gautami, the scientifically designed clinic, with special equipments for best contact lens fitting, will provide all types of lenses, including cosmetic soft lenses and special vision correcting contact lenses.
The Optical Services is fully computerized and the module is integrated with the Hospital Management System. A Bar Coding facility is being introduced in the centre to track each of the process and to maintain stock of the frames and lenses. Sankara Nethralaya will also offer courses in Ophthalmic Dispensing for the optical sales personnel. The course will train the opticians to understand prescriptions and eye conditions with emphasis on scientific dispensing.
With optometrists specially trained for selecting lenses to suit different eye conditions and with a wide range of frames in the offing, the refurbished optical service centre at Sankara Nethralaya promises to change the way you look and see.
