Prof. Andrew Parratt of Biodeakin University, Australia visited Sankara Nethralaya on 16th March 2009.  Our research proposals: (1) Micro RNA in cancer stem cells in retinoblastoma and (2) tissue specific suicide gene therapy in cancer, using nano-carrier drew their praise.  A Deakin Institute is in the works in Bangalore.

Prof. Parratt visited the Elite School of Optometry and Jayalakshmi Estates.  Deakin is planning to start a Master’s programme in Optometry in two years.  Prof. Uma Maheshwari from SASTRA made a fine presentation which impressed the visitors.  A team of Deakin scientists will visit S.N. and SASTRA in last week August.  Prof. Parratt would be putting us in touch with material scientist at Deakin for research proposal on gene delivery.
